Make No Major Purchases
When you’re planning to purchase a home it may be tempting to start buying new furniture or other home items on credit. After all, if you’re moving from an apartment to a home with a yard you need a nice riding lawn mower, right? Wait until your mortgage loan is finalized before making any major purchases on credit.
Even your cash should be left alone until everything is paid and completed with the house. Your mortgage loan will be based on the financial picture that is presented at the time the paperwork is drawn up and any major change in credit or cash on hand could sour the deal and leave you without a new home.
