Maintenance Matters
If you hired an ac repair tech a few years ago who advised you to repair the ducts, and you didn’t do so, many insurers will hold this against you. If maintenance could have prevented the damage, you might be responsible for the expense to repair or replace.
With this in mind, make sure you maintain the home, keep it up to date, and make sure everything is in working condition. Insurance adjusters do their research, and will look into all of these factors prior to making the claim settlement offer. If you aren’t mindful of these things, it can end up costing you in a major way, and in a number of cases, result in the claim being denied entirely by the insurer.
