Using the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report and New York Police Department statistics, we were able to find out the exact answer to this question. Generally, the number of shooting, and general crime rates, in the state of NY has been on the decline – from over two thousand homicides and violent crimes in 1990 to just over three hundred in 2014.
