This trail in Adirondacks, New York, is considered the state’s tallest peak, and boasts nine peaks, with six being 4,000 feet. This trail has less of a threat of triple digit temperatures, but presents a challenge in eroded trail beds which can where you down and teetering over a 700 foot drop.
The Great Range Traverse is an extremely challenging hiking trail, even for the most advanced hikers out there. It is 25 miles in length, and the trail will lead you through long stretches with an elevation change of 17,600 feet. Furthermore, you may not want to look down from the higher points. The endless series of ups and downs along the way will leave you breathless, and keep you guessing the entire trail distance.
