It seems that scenic states and low tax rates are some of the things which retirees desire. Positioned in the middle of the country, Iowa has its share of frigid winters, but its summer season is mild and snowfall is lower than in neighboring states.
Low cost of living, extremely low crime rates, and a highly rated health care system make up for the few drawbacks. In fact, the health care system in the state is considered to be the fifth best health care system in the entire country, making it great for older, retired individuals.
