Oakland California is a city known for gang activity and violence. Shootings are commonplace and often without reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time or wearing the wrong colors.
There were 90 homicides in 2013 in Oakland. 2015 is seeing numbers that look to exceed that amount. Robberies, random shootings, drive-bys and gang fighting are all mentioned in news reports about Oakland violence. The irony is that Oakland has plenty of pleasant things to offer that have nothing to do with gangs or gang violence.
