Basic Parts of a Computer

A hard disk (HDD) is a digital data storage device for retrieving and storing digital data from a computer. The hard disk uses rotating disks called platters and is enclosed inside a magnetic material. A hard disk is non volatile. This means that the HDD retains data even when the power is switched off.

The hard disk contains the operating system that is used to boot up the computer. In the world of computer and technology, an operating system, commonly known as OS, is very crucial system utility that ensures the hardware and the software communicate effectively. Hence, if the hard disk malfunctions or is missing, the computer will not boot or start.
