Here’s how to recover after bankruptcy.

If you have recently filed bankruptcy, you are probably aware that it will remain on your credit report for at least seven years, and will affect your credit negatively for at least a couple years. There are things you can do to go about repairing credit after bankruptcy, and you can begin as soon as you have filed.

Whether it is Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, you are still going to have some forms of debt that you are still responsible for, such as student loans and other government based debt. Make sure you keep up with the accounts you are still responsible for so your credit isn’t damaged further.

No matter how much of a hit your credit score took, repairing credit after bankruptcy can begin right away. Consider these simple tips after filing, to help increase your credit score and get you on the track to recovering.
