Cats will chase a string for hours, which doesn’t seem like a blast to most people. Dogs are able to play catch, fetch, run after a Frisbee, and go jogging with you. Dogs are far more active than cats, are willing to play a lot more, and are going to keep you active, which means more fun.

Your cat would never go swimming in the pool or beach with you, but you can believe your dog would jump at the opportunity to do so. Of course, it depends on your definition of fun, but for the most part, there are more opportunities with a dog than with a cat.
